Having a GREAT time or NOT??
People enjoy having a good time at a party and every host/hostess wants their social event to be the one remembered as the party of the year and not in a negative tone. Most everyone loves a great party or social event during the holidays. While some can make a good party great, others can turn a great party into a disaster! However, some of us forget just like anything else there's certain behavior expectations or manners that apply when entertaining as a guest or even as a host/hostess. Do you have or are you familiar with holiday etiquette for your next social engagement?
Check out some of these etiquette tips per Mr. Manners himself, Thomas P. Farley. Most of us can relate to some if not all of  these characters. Hopefully, this will help someone be on their best behavior at their next social event. Enjoy the holidays and CHEERS!!!!

Political Pete- Pushing a Political Agenda
Apply the 3 D’s
  • discourage- change conversation
  • divert- switch subject (ex: holiday weather, new movie, etc.)
  • dismiss- that’s interesting but move on to another conversation

Won’t Leave Wanda
Overstaying their Welcome
  • Put on coffee (everyone knows the party is winding down once coffee is being offered.)
  • Offer bag of leftovers to take home with you
  • Make excuse in reference to kids having early day tomorrow

Early Bird Ernie
Early Arrivals
  • Put them to work--Ask guest to help out, run errands and do things you haven’t had the opportunity to do. (ex: go get ice, put food trays out, etc.)

Plus One Perry
Never bring guest unannounced or without asking host/hostess
  • As a host/hostess you should always be prepared for this
  • Don’t make a fuss
  • Don’t’ bring it up
  • Be welcoming and gracious (this is what the holidays are about)
Perhaps later bring it to the person’s attention

Non-stop Nina
Getting out of a conversation
  • Use catchphrases to excuse yourself
  • Try and change subject
  • Make an excuse to go and help the host/hostess
  • Excuse yourself to get a drink

Person who drinks too much at the party
Are they a good drunk or bad drunk?
It’s ok if the person is adding life to the party but make certain he/she has safe
transportation home. If the person is not adding life to the party, ask someone to
take the guest home or provide safe transportation for him/her.

After years of working for the government, I decided to pursue my dream and vision as an entrepreneur.
I began a career as an Event Planner and started an event management company, Genesis Events, Inc.  It was the vision that God blessed me with and I decided  to step out on faith and pursue.  I have a passion for creating beautiful things and love surrounding myself with it!  I love creating breathtaking, lavish and extraordinaire events the more challenging and creative the better! My goal is to leave guests with the "WOW FACTOR".  I do what I do and never make excuses for it because at the end of the day it's me and I and wouldn't change a thing!
