Whether it's a wedding or social gala planning an event is not an easy job. There is so much involved and It requires experience, education and talent to be successful at the professional level of being an Event Planner. However, everyone seems to think that the job is very easy and anyone can be one that is until they actually have to do the job and that it entails far more than decorating a ballroom or selecting a color palette. Being an Event Prof means that you must know how to research, design, plan, coordinate, and manage an event within a scheduled timeline and budget. Failure to be able to actual understand and know how to do these things will more than not cause your event to be unsuccessful. If I had a penny for every time I met someone who told me that they were an Event Planner I would no longer need to work because I would be quite wealthy. However, I'm never disrespectful when it comes to listening to someone express their livelihood. Yet, after speaking with them I usually find out that what they're actually doing is more of a hobby than an actual profession. That's why I thought I would share this article that I read and found quite interesting.
I know most Event Profs out there will definitely find it interesting and agree with much of what the writer had to say.

In today's industry, everyone wants to be an exceptional Event Planner. However, there are many factors that distinguish a good Event Planner versus an Exceptional Event Planner. Thinking the right way is one of those factors that matter more than experience and qualifications. Event Planners are perfectionists that are always striving to produce bigger and better events while being the best Event Manager possible! They are always trying to find ways to do things better, more efficient and cost effective.
The most important thing at any event are the guests! Any professional Event/Wedding Planner will tell you regardless of how much is spent on the venue, food, entertainment, etc. if the guests are not comfortable or pleased the event is not a success.
One of the first thing's to remember when creating your seating arrangement is to always plan and start your guest list early. Start by perhaps creating a spreadsheet of tentative guest or list on a sheet of paper everyone that's possibly attending. Decide if you want a head or sweetheart table for the bride and groom. Do you want to do traditional seating or switch things up a little bit more modern day? For peace of mind always make certain guests who do not get along do not sit together. Sitting friends together is always a hit but mix and matching old friends with new ones is also a cool and great idea.
Whatever you decide just try and make certain everyone is happy with their seating arrangements so that they can have a great time!
As Event Profs we all experience some form or level of stress. Rather it's day to day stress from prepping and planning or a multitude of entities derived from the hustle and flow of the event. Regardless, we all experience it. I try and do most of them daily and as often as I possibly can. By all means they definitely work in allowing me to keep my sanity!! Try them when you find yourself having a meltdown or can no longer function due to too many stressful hours of work.
Here's a few daily habits to relieve event stress.
Saving money is always a Great thing! One of the many jobs of an Event Planner is to stay on budget.
